He first came on South Africa’s small screens when he played a supporting role in Generations: The Legacy. Now he’s playing Thato on The Queen.
Xolani Mayekiso (25) was born in Harrismith in the Free State. He studied acting at AFDA. He says his love for acting started when he was still young. “From primary going through into school I’ve always loved acting, but I feel like acting chose me in a way.”
He also went on to say landing the Thato role on The Queen is a dream come true. At first he didn’t believe he thought it was a prank.
When he was asked what it’s like to work along with Connie and Shona Ferguson this is what he said, “It’s very exciting, overwhelming and nerve-racking, but most of all it puts me on the edge of my seat and makes me want to do more”
Xolani is not quite sure about building a brand on social media platforms just yet. For him it is still early to think that far and he also went on to say social media platforms come with a lot of complications. “I just want to work and establish myself properly then build a brand, so there is no need for me to be on social media.”
