Nigerian army warns ‘trouble-makers’ amid protests

The Nigerian army has warned “subversive elements and trouble-makers to desist from such acts” as protests against police brutality entered the eight day.

The protesters have continued with demonstrations despite the government disbanding the hated Special Anti-Robbery Squad, also known as Sars.

In a statement, the army spokesperson said they will continue to support President Muhammadu Buhari and defend the country at all cost.

“All officers and men are directed never to be distracted by anti democratic forces and agents of disunity,” the statement read.

Protesters have been calling for major police reform despite the government setting up a new set up to replace the controversial Sars.
