
SUDAN- The Nigerian government and Sudan police confirmed on Thursday that a Nigerian Diplomat has been found dead at his home in Khartoum, both would later confirm that it was, “criminal act.”
The Sudanese government released a statement, it read, “An employee in the consular section of the Nigerian embassy was found dead at his home in Khartoum,”
“Preliminary investigation shows that the death was due to a criminal act and not politically motivated.”
Then the Nigerian foreign ministry confirmed the death of the diplomat and they described him as an “immigration attache”.
Tiwatope Elias-Fatile from the Nigerian foreign ministry told AFP, “We have to wait for a formal report from our mission detailing how it happened,”.
“It is so sad and we are so worried about the incident. We are not happy about it.”
Unconfirmed reports on social media said the diplomat was killed by a knife attack, the Sudanese and Nigerian authorities have not confirmed the reports.
Last year August, Russia’s ambassador to Sudan Mirgayas Shirinsky, was found dead in the swimming pool of his residency in the same province of Khartoum, it was later revealed he died of a heart attack.
