North Korea willing to talk with South Korea and US

WASHINGTON/SEOUL- The US and Seoul have welcomed North Korea indication that they are willing to talk to both parties. The White house although has said that the talks have to include North Korea end their nuclear programme.

The possible talks come after Pyongyang senior officials said on Sunday their government is willing to talk, North and South have had talks before but without the US, the willingness to talk with US has been welcomed.

The closing ceremony of the Winter Games, North Korea delegation met with South Korean President Moon Jae-in in undisclosed location, where the North Korean expressed they are willing to talk to after Moon’s office disclosed in a statement.

According to the statement, Pyongyang delegation said developments in relations between the two Korea’s and the United States should go hand in hand.

The United States announced on Friday they are implementing their harshest sanctions yet against North Korea, the aim is for North Korea to give up their nuclear and missile programmes.

The White house in a statement said, “We will see if Pyongyang’s message today, that it is willing to hold talks, represents the first steps along the path to denuclearization,”

“In the meantime, the United States and the world must continue to make clear that North Korea’s nuclear and missile programmes are a dead end,” it said.
