‘Nsfas thief’ sentence to five years in jail

Johannesburg – Former Walter Sisulu University student Sibongile Mani has been sentenced to five years in prison.

Last month, Mani was found guilty pf stealing over R800,000 from the National Student Financial Aid Scheme.

In 2017 she went on a shopping spree after R14 million was mistakenly paid into her bank account.

Mani pleaded for a suspended sentence, but the judge said that a suspended sentence was inappropriate.
