Pele’s prediction- An African team won’t win the World Cup

CAPE TOWN – Football legend Pele has shared his world cup predictions and one of them is that an African nation had little chance of winning the tournament that gets underway amid high expectations in Russia on Thursday.

Pele also predicted that his own countrymen, Brazil, are also unlikely to win their sixth title at this year event, Brazil are favorites coming in into every tournament, Pele commented , “they abound with a squad of extremely talented players – but have still to find a settled combination.”

As it stands Brazil have won 17 games out of 21, drawn three games and one defeat, that is a 80% percent record.

Brazil has a squad that consists of Neymar and Thiago Silva (PSG), Marcelo and Casemiro (Real Madrid), Coutinho and Paulinho (Barcelona), Willian (Chelsea), Gabriel Jesus (Manchester City), Robert Firmino (Liverpool), Miranda (Atletico Madrid) and Douglas Costa (Juventus), it is certainly a talent 32-team squad for the tournament.

However as the records stands with an African nation, no African nation has yet qualified to the semi-final stage of a World Cup and should Egypt, Nigeria, Senegal, Tunisia or Morocco make it that far this time, it will highly be a national and continental celebration for the continent.
