JOHANNESBURG – According to the AA, Fuel prices are expected to make an increase of 4 cents and diesel prices increase by 23 cents, this November.
The retail price of petrol and wholesale price of diesel with increase from Wednesday, 1 November, due to a weakening of the rand against the dollar, the energy department reported on Sunday.
The petrol price will make an increase of 4 cents to R14.05 per litre in the commercial hub of Gauteng Province, while the diesel price will go up to R12.35 per litre.
“South Africa’s fuel prices are adjusted on a monthly basis, informed by international and local factors, international factors include the fast that South Africa imports both crude oil and finished products at a price set at the international level, including shipping costs.”
“The prices of Petroleum Products in the international Markets the average prices of petrol and illuminating paraffin decreased, while the diesel prices increased, during the period under review. This led to an over recovery of about 17 centre per litre on petrol and about 2.5 cents per litre on paraffin,” said the energy department.
Fuel prices for different areas and regions will be drafted and publishes to the public on Tuesday. More updates on the state of the rand against the dollar will be reported, which has potentially affected the fuel price increase.
