Johannesburg – Pick n Pay said it would open its Alex Mall branch once the deep cleaning of the store was completed. The retailer, which provides essential goods, was shut down when it was discovered that two workers tested positive for COVID-19.
Two other Pick n Pay stores were forced to close after cases of the virus were confirmed.
The store was closed for deep cleaning and sanitisation. Workers who were in close contact with those who tested positive were sent into self-quarantine while all other workers were screened for the virus.
Pick n Pay said it was not clear when the deep cleaning would be completed. The store would only reopen thereafter.
