
MOSCOW- England for the first time in their history made it through the knockout phase of the World Cup through penalties. The English have suffered losses in penalties and before Tuesday night were never the winning side through the dreaded penalty spot, ending their penalty curse.
England defeated Columbia 4-3 in penalties, after both sides with deadlock 1-1 after extra time. England looked like a shoe in into the quarterfinals, with just 2 minutes left of full time. Harry Kane scored through the penalty spot and when Columbia’s defender Mina’s equalising late in the game.
