‘PLEASE CALL ME’ INVENTOR BARRED FROM DISCLOSING VODACOM SETTLEMENT DETAILS

JOHANNESBURG – A former Vodacom employee who invented the “Please Call Me” is not allowed to disclose the details of the settlement between him and the cellphone company.

Nkosana Makate took the mobile company to court after they did not recognise him as the inventor of the popular ‘Please call me’ feature on Vodacom network. His lawyers and the network company agreed in the High Court in Pretoria on Tuesday that he would not disclose details of their settlement to the media or any other third party.

This agreement comes after media reports suggested Makate had been offered R10 million in the settlement.

In April 2016 a Constitutional Court ruled that Makate must be recognised for his “Please Call Me” idea.
