Police seize uncut crystal meth stash worth R30-million in Parow

CAPE TOWN- Western Cape police are working with customs officials who discovered 19 bags of suspected uncut crystal methamphetamine worth an estimated at R30-million,  after the police stopped a truck in Parow Industria near Cape Town on Friday night.

Police spokesperson Brigadier Novela Potelwa said the crystal meth was hidden in two fridges inside the truck‚ it came from Johannesburg and the destination for truck was a warehouse in the area.

The operation was jointly done by members from the Parow visible policing unit with Border police and customs officials.

Potelwa said a 50- year-old suspect was arrested, the suspect will make an appearance in the Bellville Magistrates Court on Monday, for charges of dealing in drugs.

“The consignment of crystal methamphetamine weighing about 35kg with an estimated value of R30-million was sent for forensic analysis. The investigation continue and more arrests could follow‚”  Potelwa added.

Western Cape Provincial Commissioner Lieutenant-General Khombinkosi Jula thanked viglant members who were involved in the bust.

Jula said,”The confiscation and arrest boost our efforts to tackle both drug users and dealers.”
