President Ramaphosa applauds signs of SARS turnaround

Johannesburg – President Cyril Ramaphosa says the South African Reserve Bank is showing positive signs of a turnaround.

Ramaphosa notes that restoring stability and credibility at Sars was among his foremost priorities when he was elected President.

Last week, the revenue service announced over R1.5 trillion in preliminary tax revenue collection.

The president said this is part of Sars’ strategy to promote tax morality and morality.

Most of the recommendations from the Nugent Commission have been adopted, including the re-establishment of the capacity to monitor and investigate illicit trade and hold tax dodgers to account.
