
LONDON- A handwritten letter in which Princess Diana jokes about how she “wanted a medal” when she turned 30 is set to fetch R17,000 at auction.
Bruce Oldfield fashion designer which the note was addressed to, Diana wanted to thank him for a birthday gift he’d sent her.
Princess Diana wrote the letter in 1990, she also wanted to thank Oldfield business partner for a jersey they had given her for her 29th birthday.
Diane had enjoyed a very close relationship with the fashion designer, who often dressed her for high profile public engagements and official events.
The note reads: “How really touched I am to be remembered for entering my 30th year – I want a medal when I finally make it please!” The note written in Kensington Palace notepaper the intimate text ends with a smiley face and a kiss.
Seven years later she died.
