Ramaphosa: All public schools to close for four weeks

Johannesburg – President Cyril Ramaphosa has announced that all public schools will close for four weeks for 27 July to 24 August.

Grade 12 teachers and pupils will get a one week break. Grade 7s will stay at home for two weeks.

The president said the academic year will extend beyond 2020.

Teachers’ unions have been calling for schools to be closed for the whole of August because of the increasing Covid-19 infections in the country.
