JOHANNESBURG – Despite fierce criticism, damning courts judgments and growing calls for her to step down, President Cyril Ramaphosa spoke highly of Minister Bathabile Dlamini, saying she’s done a fantastic job and has raised the bar.

During an interview exclusive with Xolani Gwala 702 and Cape Talk on Thursday night, Ramaphosa tackled a variety of issues.

He dismissed claims that he kept Dlamini in his Cabinet because of his narrow victory at the ANC’s 2017 elective conference, her influence within the ANC and the rumors that she has something to use against the president.

They have been scathing judgment’s against Dlamini, particularly on the way she handled social grants, the court labelled her actions as reckless and grossly negligent.

However,  despite all of this, President Ramaphosa has given her a glowing report card.

“Bathabile Dlamini is the Minister of Women and she’s doing a good job is advancing the cause of women in our country. She’s raised the bar and she’s doing a really fantastic job.”
