Ramaphosa: More sectors will be allowed to resume

Johannesburg – President Cyril Ramaphosa addressed the nation on the developments to manage the spread of Covid-19.

Ramaphosa announced that additional sectors will be permitted to resume under Level 3 restrictions.

The president said while South Africa remains at lockdown level 3, additional sectors of the economy will now be allowed to reopen. However, these sectors are required to follow strict measures to ensure physical distancing and personal hygiene.

Restaurants with limited capacity, personal care services including hair salons, conference centres holding business-related gatherings, cinemas, theatres and casinos, and non-contact sports will be permitted to start their activities.

Contact sports will only be allowed to continue to train and use facilities with restrictions.

Ramaphosa added that more clarity on the lifting of the restrictions will be communicated in the coming days.
