World Rugby is reportedly set to present formal charges against SA Rugby director of rugby Rassie Erasmus this week for a breach of Regulation 18 which covers misconduct.
After World Rugby has done so, SA Rugby will have an opportunity to assess and respond.
Anger erupted a video came to light on social media which led to World Rugby confirming that both Erasmus and SA Rugby would face an independent misconduct hearing.
In the 62-minute video, Erasmus highlighted a number of officiating discrepancies including instances where he felt officials in the first of three Tests showed Springbok skipper Siya Kolisi a lack of resect in comparison to his British & Irish Lions counterpart Alun Wyn Jones.
The opening Test’s referee was Australia’s Nic Berry with New Zealand’s Ben O’Keeffe and France’s Mathieu Raynal the assistant and South Africa’s Marius Jonker in the TMO booth.
Punishment for Erasmus still remains unclear. It is reported that he could face a stadium ban.
