MUNICH- Real Madrid holders of the Champions League came from goal down to snatch victory against home side German giants Bayern Munich, having a considerable advantage into their Champions league in the second semi-final leg in Spain last week.
The title holders are looking into the lifting the trophy for the third time in as many seasons. Coming from a goal down after Joshua Kimmich opener, Marcelo cancelled out the goal in the 44 minute.
Bayern on top form missed several chances to be just have a one goal to their name.
A quick break allowed Real substitute Marco Asensio to beat Sven Ulreich with a fine effort and grab the winner in the 57th minute.
Real Madrid coach Zinedine Zidane said, “We are satisfied with the result but this does not count for much,”
“You can never feel absolutely safe in football.
“We won tonight and I think we played well, we got a good result after a hard game.”
Bayern who have lost only once in the past 22 games, have only themselves to blame for their many chances missed. The tie is still open, as both teams ahead to Madrid next week Tuesday to face off in the second leg.
Bayern has only one goal deficit but the team needs to make sure they don’t concede and score two goals to go through to the final.
