Johannesburg – The Independent Electoral Commission says the low number of youth participating in elections is a weakened in our democracy and needs to be addressed urgently.
The IEC has launched a voter registration drive at tertiary institutions aimed at reversing this trend.
Last year’s voter turn-out during the local government elections was the worst on record since 1994.
