South African Airways has issued a statement saying they have received a notice of possible strike action.
This follows after a wage increase disagreement. This notice has been served with an intention to start industrial action by a labour union.
Parties have held a number of meetings since they were served with the possible strike notice.
The company’s maintenance and SAA Technical (SAAT) received a notice with the intention to embark on industrial action at the weekend from one labour union following the tabling of wage increase proposal by SAAT.
This airline company said that it began to review and update its emergency measures to make sure that business is still run and to reduce the impact of the strike actions and its operations. It did all of these right after they received strike notice.
This company will then issue a follow-up on Wednesday morning after its meeting with the union advising them to whether the strike is going to take place or the extent to which this strike has affected the operation of the Airways company.
This strike is also said to be lead by the union representing the SAA workers.
