SAFTAS’s Announce Nominees

Johannesburg –  The 12th Annual  South African film and television Awards (SAFTA) nominee ceremony was hosted in Inanda Country Club  Johannesburg  presented by media personality  Masechaba Ndlovu.

79 Awards will be handed out at this year’s ceremony, with categories varying from television, fiction, non fiction, short films and student films. The only eligible films were television programs and films that were publicly released or exhibited between the 1 August 2016 to the 31st of October 2017. The film or television show had to be submitted to the National Film and Video Foundation of South Africa (NFVF) to be considered. CEO of NFVF  and chairperson of SAFTA Zama Mkosi talked about the process, they ” went to great lengths to get judges from different demographics and skills sets” to work through the entries. “We are proud of the record number of 262 judges used along 2 judging phases,” she said.

The event will be held over a weekend period in Sun City between the 22-24 of March.
