Johannesburg – The South African National Taxi Council (Santaco) in Gauteng has announced that taxi fares will increase from 1 July 2020.
The council said local trips will increase by R4-R5 while metro to metro trips are set to increase by a maximum of R7. Cross provincial border trips will increase by R50.’This decision came after an earlier decision to increase taxi fares by more than double caused outrage.
A meeting between government and Santaco was organised and it was agreed that prices would be revised.
