Former Al Ahly and Bafana Bafana coach Pitso Mosimane has hailed Rhulani Mokwena’s move to North African giants Wydad Casablanca after his shock departure from Mamelodi Sundowns.
Mokwena, was confirmed as the new coach of “The Red Castle” on Thursday and has been given the huge responsibility of turning the club’s fortunes around. The three-time CAF Champions League winners had a dismal campaign in the Botola Pro 1, ending the season in sixth place in league table.
Mokwena, who managed to guide Masandawana to back-to-back Dstv Premiership titles, was sacked by the club, with the Tshwane giants saying the decision was taken by the board based on “objections and expectations of the club”.
However, an apparent fallout with the Sporting Director Flemming Berg was touted as the main reason behind his departure from the club.
Former Sundowns coach Pitso Mosimane congratulated his former assistant coach Mokwena, stressing that his move to the Moroccan giants was a huge opportunity for him.
Mosimane, just like Mokwena, also went to coach in North Africa after leaving Mamelodi Sundowns, back in 2020, joining Egyptian giants Al Ahly.
Another South African coach Fadlu Davids was last week appointed as the new head coach of East African giants Simba SC. Closer to home, Morena Ramoreboli has just extended his contract with Botswana giants Jwaneng Galaxy.
