SERENA’S COMEBACK HALTED BY SISTER VENUS IN INDIAN WELLS

NEW YORK- Venus Williams cut her sister Serena’s tennis comeback short with a 6-3, 6-4 victory in the third round of the BNP Paribas Open in Indian Wells on Monday.

Serena returning after more than a year break, after giving herself time to have a baby, get married but the tennis legend put up a good fight saving match points in the second set as she trailed 5-2 but her rustiness still showed.

Venus told reporters that she never underestimated her sister’s game after she took her break.

She said, “I always know that it’s never over until it’s over,” she said. “She kept roaring back, I’m just lucky that I’ve played more matches than her right now.”

Venus is ranked world number eight in the world after having a strong year in 2017.

Venus had a strong game with six aces, broke Serena service game four times and prevailing in the end as she halted her sister’s last ditch comeback in the second set.
