Singapore summit: The biggest moments

Singapore- ” Many people in the world will think of this as a (inaudible) form of fantasy … from a science fiction movie,” Kim told Trump, through a translator.

The two leaders Donald Trump and Kim Jong Un shook hands on Tuesday in front of the world’s cameras, thebackdrop of flags of the United States and North Korea, as the historic moment took place.

The two did not shake hands when the first met but when the time to finally shake hands, the they both flashed guarded smiles. Trump then for a brief moment touched Kim’s right upper arm, and turned to face the cameras. The leaders moved off to the side and were greeted by two individual translators.

Trump said when the two sat together to talk to the media, “I feel really great, we’re about to have a great discussion,”

“I think it will be tremendously successful, and it’s my honor and we will have a terrific relationship. I have no doubt.”

Kim responded in Korean, “It has not been easy to come to this point. For us the past has been holding us back, and old practices and prejudices have been covering our eyes and ears, but we have been able to overcome everything to arrive here today.”

Trump responded with a thumbs up. The personal meeting between the two lasted 38 minutes after the meeting Trump said, “Excellent relationship”.
