Johannesburg – The Special Investigating Unit has been given the go-ahead to investigate the Mpumalanga Health Department.
The unit will probe allegations of corruption and maladministration, related to the procurement of ICT contracts and projects.
This includes Bethal Hospital, Middelburg Hospital, Themba Hospital and community health centres.
The investigation will also look at the department’s fleet management solution and citizen engagement platform.
It aims to recover any financial losses suffered by the State through civil litigation.
The SIU will probe all those involved, including employees, officials or agents of the department or any other person or entity.
Evidence of corruption will then be referred to law enforcement authorities for further action.
