Solidarity calls for deregulation of fuel prices

Johannesburg – Trade Union Solidarity is fighting for the deregulation of fuel prices.

The union has sent letters to Mineral Resources and Energy Minister Gwede Mantashe and Finance Minister Enoch Godongwana calling for this to be actioned.

South African have had to deal with dramatic increase in fuel prices.

The union said fuel price deregulation will ease financial pressure on consumers and businesses.

It’s also called for a reduction in the fuel levy which is also included in the retail fuel price.

Solidarity said South Africa is one of a few countries in the world where the government exercises a degree of artificial fuel price manipulation.
