SOME UBER, TAXIFY DRIVERS TO GO OFFLINE IN PROTEST OVER SALARIES

JOHANNESBURG-  Some Uber and Taxfiy drivers have gone on strike and gone offline on Monday, the dispute is over salaries.

The drivers said the cost of living has gone up, petrol and taxes going up but their salaries have remained stagnant and they say they not making means to support their families and themselves.

Drivers also said that it is unacceptable that the fares have not increased amidst the increasing costs of living.

The Movement’s Teresa Munchick has called on drivers in the sector to stand with the drivers in their demands, “We’re calling for an increase in fares. Fuel has gone up substantially over the years, the cost of vehicles, the cost of insurance… everything has gone up and its really outrageous that we haven’t had an increase.”

Uber has said they unaware of the disruptions to their services but is aware of the claims.
