Soweto residents vow shutdown

Johannesburg – Residents in Soweto have vowed to shut the township down on Tuesday.

A motorcade will be moving through Soweto while another group will march to the Mayor’s office. The community is demanding better service delivery including resolving electricity issues.

They are expected to deliver a memorandum of demands to Mayor Mpho Phalatse.

On Monday residents blocked roads leading to Soweto with burning tyres.

Services such as the Rea Vaya were temporarily shut down.
