Mamelodi Sundowns have hit three of their Bafana Bafana stars with heavy fines after they were found to have been allegedly being under the influence of alcohol, during the club’s Caf Champions League trip from Equatorial Guinea recently.
According to insiders, the three players are identified as Tebogo Langerman‚ Motjeka Madisha and Phakamani Mahlambi.
Sundowns spokesperson Thulani Thuswa declined to comment or confirm reports, nor did he explain the premiership champions’ internal disciplinary processes.
“Just like at other clubs‚ internal processes are kept internal‚” Thuswa said.
TimesLIVE has reported that they tried to reach the trio of players for comment on Thursday, but they had already departed to Egypt for their clash against Libyan side Ahli Benghazi in a first round clash of the Champions League on Sunday.
TimesLIVE said they have reliably been told that the trio appeared before a disciplinary committee (DC) where they were hit with monetary fines for transgressing club rules.
The insider said the players stood in front of their teammates and apologized for their actions.
It is also being reported coach Pitsoe Mosimane was livid by his player’s action, the coach is well known to be a strict disciplinarian.
