Johannesburg – Telkom says it is expecting to receive further clarity on the scope of an investigation ordered by President Cyril Ramaphosa.
The Special Investigating Unit (SIU) will probe some of the investments undertaken by the company in parts of the continent over 15 years ago.
The investments relate to Telkom’s expansion into Nigeria’s Multi-Links Teelcommunication, iWayAfrica, and Africa Online Mauritius, which the company later sold off.
The probe aims to uncover whether there was any unlawful expenditure of public money in the deals and whether the losses suffered by Telkom or the state may be recovered.
Telkom says its investigations led to the issuing of a civil summons against an employee to recover losses.
