The Top 10 luxury apartments in South Africa

JOHANNESBURG – South Africa’s most expensive apartments- boasting scenery, prime views, security detail, fittings and on-site activities- have been named.

A report compiled by Afrasia Bank and global market researchers New World Wealth has rated the top ten luxury apartment complexes in the country for the first time.

Prices between R3 million and R12 million, Whitehall Court in Killarney, Johannesburg has emerged as the top luxury complex.

The report says the apartment has a “timeless design, with impressive internal gardens, sculptured pillars and high ceilings.”

Taking second place in the Bantry, where prices range from R30 million to R40 million. It was designed by renowned architect Stef Antoni.

It’s sizeable with over 300 square metre apartments and offers residents impressive views of the ocean.

The third spot was taken by Melrose Arch in Sandton. The report describes it as a unique mixed use residential area with apartments, offices and shops.

It offers easy and safe access to local shops, bars and restaurants. Apartment prices range from R2 million to R30 million.

Head researcher at New World Wealth, Andrew Amoils, said ratings criteria included design and space, location, views and scenery, communal gardens, maintenance, quality of fittings, activities, security and reception features and appeal to wealthy buyers.

Other top apartment include San Michele, Clifton; Franklin Row, Illovo; Michael Angelo ad Raphael Suite, Sandton; V&A Marina Apartments, CPT; The Pearls, Umhlanga; De Meermin, Pletternberg-Bay; and The Bermudas in Umhlanga.
