JOHANNESBURG- Suspended SARS commissioner has been served disciplinary charges related to allegations of misconduct in violation of his duties and responsibilities.

On Friday afternoon the presidency released a statement that said Moyane was charged on Thursday.

The statement read, “The disciplinary inquiry relates to alleged leadership and organisational failures.”

It adds an inquiry will be “conducted in writing to make findings, subject to the presiding officer’s discretion to hear oral evidence.”

It has been reported that Moyane is charged in terms of the Sars Act, Public Finance Management Act and Sars Code of Conduct.

President Cyril Ramaphosa relieved that Moyane is being relived of his duties in March, he referred to the handling of Jonas Makwakwa removal or resignation and the VAT repayments to Gupta-linked companies as some of the reasons of the suspension.
