Trump lawyer: ‘I paid porn star linked to president’

Washington- US President Donald Trump personal lawyer has admitted that he paid with his own personal money, $130 000 to a porn star who was once linked to Donald Trump.

The Times reported Micheal Cohen a long time lawyer to Trump, his admission also included that the money was not reimbursed for paying the actress, whose real name is Stephanie Clifford and who goes by the stage name of Stormy Daniels.

Cohen responded to the The Times questions, as he told the newspaper that the payment was not illegal but did not give reason is to why the payment was made or whether the payment was issued by Trump or was aware of it.

“Neither the Trump Organization nor the Trump campaign was a party to the transaction with Ms Clifford, and neither reimbursed me for the payment, either directly or indirectly,” Cohen said, according to the Times.

“The payment to Ms Clifford was lawful, and was not a campaign contribution or a campaign expenditure by anyone.”

The US media had previously reported that the payment was made a month before November 2016, which was during the presidential election, in an attempt to silence the incident.

Trump married at the time with wife Melanie who had just given birth to their son four months prior and a private citizen in 2006.

Cohen statement to The Times is the first time that he acknowledges a role in what he termed as a “private transaction”.
