WASHINGTON- US president Donald Trump was furious after his personal lawyer Micheal Cohen who paid $130 000 into Stormy Daniels account, New York offices were raided by the FBI in the afternoon on Monday.
The FBI agents seized files relating to Cohen’s work, which included the $130 000 payment before the 2016 election to an adult film actress Daniels, who claimed she slept with Trump a decade earlier.
Cohen’s own attorney Stephen Ryan said agents were working in part on the request of Mueller, the independent prosecutor investigating links between Russia and the Trump campaign.
While in the White House, Trump was furious at the latest developments, he told reporters,
“It’s a disgraceful situation. It’s a total witch-hunt, I have been saying it for a long time,”
“It’s an attack on our country in a true sense. It’s an attack on what we all stand for.”

The raid comes at a time when the probe by Mueller is intensifying, especially around Trump’s inner circle. Mueller investigation involves looking into possible collusion between the Trump campaign and the Russian government to possible help Trump win the 2016 presidential election.

The investigation has so far indicted 19 people including the chairman of Trump’s campaign and his former national security advisor Micheal Flynn. Mueller has been under pressure from Republican congress who feel the probe is biased to the Democrats and numerous rumors that Trump will likely fire Mueller.
Asked about this, Trump said, “Many people have said you should fire him. Again they found nothing and in finding nothing that’s a big statement,” he said. “So we’ll see what happens.”
