
JOHANNESBURG – The 17-year-old Capetonian singing sensation Paxton Fielies, has received positive comments as fans reacted to her achievement, as the winner of the 13th edition of Idols SA.
The electrifying finale hosted by hip hop legend, Proverb, kicked off with a thrilling performance by the top ten finalists who belted out the song Four Five Seconds which had everyone on their feet.
Other highlights included performances by some of the country’s finest musicians, including idols mentor, Donald and legendary kwaito group, TkZee amongst others.
With over 30 million votes last week alone, the 13th version of idols SA 2017 summed a record 98 million votes this season.
Over 3500 supporters graced the event to witness the breath-taking finale, with Paxton Fielies emerging victorious after beating KwaZulu-Natal’s 25-year-old Mthokozisi Ndaba in what host Proverb described as a “unanimous” win.
Fans on Twitter believe that it was a deservedly win for the grade 11 pupil from from Bishop Lavis in Cape Town, not taking away the brilliance of her challenger Mthokozisi.
“They are all great musicians, but I think Paxton deserved it more,” reads one twitter post.
Ford South Africa also posted, “Congratulations to the winner of #IdolsSA, The very talented Paxton! You’re certainly going places in your brand new #FordFocus”
After last night’s results, Paxton became the youngest winner of the SA version of the competition’s history and many fans believes she has what it takes to become a star.
Idols SA Judge Somizi also told Paxton, “You have no choice but to be a super star,” just before she was announced winner of the coveted crown.
She walked away with a brand new Ford Focus, R1 000 000 in cash prize, R20 000 of musical instrument from YAMAHA, R50 000 worth of a fashion voucher from Truworths, and a recording deal.
