TWO CYCLISTS DIE AT THE CAPE TOWN CYCLE TOUR

CAPE TOWN- Cycle Tour Media Office has confirmed in a statement that an incident involving a group of 20 cyclists in a collision has killed one.

The incident occurred on the Wynberg Hill during the race.

The cause of the collision is still unknown.

“One of the cyclists, a 40-year-old male, received immediate medical attention at the scene but, tragically, his injuries proved fatal.”

The City of Cape Town’s JP Smith has also responded to the incident.

“About 20 cyclists were involved in a collision. One male cyclist was killed.”

The second cyclist who has died, is understood to have suffered a heart attack, “Unfortunately, the tour has been marred by the announcement that there has been a second death and it was a heart attack,” city of Cape Town David Bellairs confirmed.

Thirty-five thousand people did participate at this years event.
