Unions to join e-hailing strike

Johannesburg – The South African Transport and Allied Workers Union and Cosatu are embarking on a solidarity strike with e-hailing drivers.

It is understood the unions met with Unity in Diversity, representing the drivers.

Satawu said it is committed to helping the drivers win their battle against app partners. The drivers say Transport MEC Jacob Mamabolo failed to mediate the dispute.

They are now expecting a report from Mamabolo’s office to address their demands.

The drivers have also threatened to extend the strike until the end of the week.
