CAPE TOWN- Suspected underworld boss Nafiz Modack and five other accused have been granted bail, after they were accused of running a protection racket that target Cape Town nightclubs.

All five suspects were under custody since their arrest in December.

They were alleged to extorted and intimidated Cape Town restaurants and nightclubs into security contracts.

The court heard of the feud between the nightclubs and rival security companies.

The Magistrates courts also heard that state witnesses and complainants feared of intimidation.

The other five accused were Colin Booysen, who is the brother of alleged gang leader Jerome Booysen, Ashley Fields and Jacques Cronje all granted bail of R10,000.

Charl Lackay was released on R5000 bail.
