NGCOBO- Sevens suspects who are believed to be involved in the Ngcobo police massacre earlier this week have been shot dead after a shootout with the police on Friday night.
The suspects were cornered inside a church.
According to Brigadier Hangwani Mulaudzi, Hawks spokesperson there were more than 10 suspects were arrested after the shootout, seven were killed. He continued to say that a police officer was injured,
“One police officer was wounded and he is recuperating in hospital,” he said.
Malaudzi said, “The group, which uses a church as a hiding place, was cornered inside the church premises.
“A gun battle between suspects and police ensued which left seven suspects dead and a task force member injured in the legs.”
“A number of firearms have been confiscated. Further details on the incident will be communicated once the crime scene has been processed by the SAPS Forensic Services Unit,” he said. The suspects managed to escape during the shootout and police are on the hunt for them.
