UPDATE- PUBLIC PROTECTOR WONT RESIGN DISPUTE PRESSURE TO DO

CAPE TOWN- On Tuesday the public Protector Busisiwe Mkhwebane faced a barrage of questions from MP’s who questioned her on Estina Dairy farm investigation and her CIEX report into Absa and the South African Reserve Bank.

Mkhwebane has been under fire as her critics believe that her reports do not tackle actual state capture and that she is lenient to some.

MPs said that she has admitted that her remedial action in her CIEX report was unlawful and is thus has caused reputational damage to the office of the Public Protector.

The public protector reacting to the critical response to her Estina report, she told Parliament that the report only investigated maladministration of the dairy farm and not the Guptas, nor state capture.

EFF Sam Matiase said the Mkhewebane had acted unlawfully in some of her remedial action and called for her to resign, she completely dismissed this claim, she said,

“And I think Honourable Matiase indicated I should do a good thing and resign like the former president Jacob Zuma did. I must indicate that I committed to serve South Africans when I took this job.”

As the pressure mounts on the public protector to go, non profit organisation Corruption Watch have also called for Parliament to begin the process of her removal from office.
