JOHANNESBURG- Taxi drivers at the Germiston taxi rank say the Ekurhuleni taxi strike is expected to start shortly.
The taxi rank operations are carrying on as usual, with some unsuspecting commuters in queues preparing to catch taxis to their respective destinations and not expecting the delays.
South African National Taxi Council (Santaco) announced the strike on Monday and the strike is a demonstration against Mayor Mzwandile Masina who they say has not improved road conditions since 2012.
The strike begun after 8am they said, drivers are planning to march from the Germinston taxi rank to the Germinston council chamber to hand over a memorandum.
Some roads in Tembisa have been barricaded.
