
JOHANNESBURG- Thousands of security workers marched at the Johannesburg CBD, where they demanded that the government take decisive action after a spike in cash in transit heist in the country.
Security workers from affiliated Fedusa and Motor Transport Workers Union marched to the office Gauteng Community Safety MEC Sizakele Nkosi-Malobane and handed in their memorandum to the MEC.
Workers have accused the government of being slow to act on the spike of the violent crime. Some of the security workers carried placards that read, “Without us South Africa is cashless” and “God will not bless you with heist money”.
They have asked President Cyril Ramaphosa and his Cabinet to take action fast.

SAPS has intervened and Police Minister Bheki Cele has said they have arrested suspects who are involved in certain cash in transit heist and they have developed a plan to work with security companies to tackle the company.
