JOHANNESBURG – Wage negotiations between Eskom and three key trade unions resumed on Wednesday morning.

Unions Numsa, NUM, and Solidarity had initially demanded a 15 percent wage increase but decreased their demands to 9%.

Eskom’s initial offer was just zero percent increase but during the negotiation proceedings they left 4.7%.  Eskom also offered inflation-linked increases for the next four years.

Eskom staff decision to go on a nationwide strike resulted in load-shedding in some areas.
