WATCH: Hawaii volcano spews huge cloud of ash

HAWAII- On Thursday a new volcanic eruption on Big Island had just erupted, the volcano has been very active couple days. The eruptions came with little sound and with only a modest fury, spewing a strong grey colour of ash about 9 100 metres into the sky that begun raining down into a nearby town.

The explosion occurred at the summit of Kilauea come after 4:00am after two weeks volcanic activity that sent lava flows into neighbourhoods and destroyed at least 26 homes. Experts say the eruption was the strongest in recent days.

Toby Hazel who is preparing to leave Pahoa, a town near the mountain said, “It’s just time to go — it really, really is,”

“I feel so sorry for the people who don’t go, because they don’t have the money, or don’t want to go to a shelter and leave their houses.”

One witness who was awake throughout the eruption said, “What I noticed is the plume was just rising straight into the air, and it was not tipping in any direction,” he said. “We’ve been expecting this, and a lot of people are going to see it and get excited and scared.”
