MOSCOW- After a sensational weekend of knockout football that saw the likes of Argentina being knocked out by France in a thrilling 4-3 loss, Portugal knocked out by Uruguay after a 2-1 defeat. But the most surprising was on Sunday night, Russia knocking out 2010 World Cup champions Spain in a penalty shoot out.
The Spanish were one of the favorites to win the tournament but could not crack the Russian defence which remained resolute after conceding the first goal.
