Will Smith to perform official Fifa World Cup 2018 song

CAPE TOWN- Hollywood will meet football at the this year 2018 Russia world cup, as rumors continue that actor and former hip hop star Will Smith will perform the official anthem for this year’s world cup.

According to a Vibe report,  Smith is working on a song alongside Nicky Jam and Kosovo singer Era Istrefi, with DJ Diplo who will be producing the track.

The song is expected to drop on Friday, May 25, just 19 days before the tournament begins.

Will gave his 15.8 million followers on Instagram a sneak peak to what to expect, he captioned post, “One Life to Live. Live it Up. #WorldCup.”

This is not the first time celebrities have collaborated for a track for the biggest showcase for football, in 2010 Sharika and Freshlyground did the official song,  Waka Waka for the first world cup in African Soil, held in South Africa.

And in 2014 Brazilian World Cup We are One (Ole Ola) by Pitbull featuring Jennifer Lopez and Claudia Leitte.

World Cup starts on June 15.
