MANCHESTER- Manchester United wing back Ashley Young has extend his Manchester United contract by a year, United have triggered a clause in the contract that gave this option, British media reported on Monday.
The 32 year old player has made his reappearance in the England squad for the next two friendlies after his in-form performances at United.
The United winger deal at Old Trafford was due to end this season but his performances under Jose Mourinho saw him recalled to the national team squad in November.
Young was benched during United’s win in the FA cup on Saturday but Mourinho brought him on at half time for Luke Shaw whose United future is looking more uncertain.
Shaw has only played 15 games for United this season, seven times in the Premier League, with Young, who joined the club from Villa in 2011, being preferred as wing back.
England will visit the Netherlands in a friendly on Friday and host Italy on Tuesday, as national teams build up for the world cup in Russia during the months of June and July.
