Zikalala: We were alerted via social media

Johannesburg – KwaZulu-Natal Provincial authorities were forewarned about the July unrest via social media and not through intelligence structures.

That is according to Premier, Sihle Zikalala, testifying before the Human Rights Commission inquiry into the July unrest.

The jailing of former President Jacob Zuma sparked looting, vandalism, arson attacks and general unrest.
