Zimbabwe female MPs hurt after scuffle with police

HARARE – Zimbabwean Members of Parliament are calling on President Emmerson Mnangagwa to respect and protect opposition lawmakers.

The call comes after female legislators were hurt during scuffles with police inside Parliament last Friday.

The problems and tensions raised when Zimbabwe Speaker of Parliament, Jacob Mudenda, ordered all to rise for the president.

Some opposition MPs refused to stand, it was during the annual budget presentation by Finance Minister Mthuli Ncube.

The opposition said they don’t recognize Mnangagwa because the country’s July polls were rigged.

Police were called in to remove them, many said the police used excessive force, as some MPs had to be hospitalized.
